Biography
planetBLU is a contemporary arts organization founded by artist and environmental engineer Viet Ngo. The initiative operates as a collaborative platform linking artists, scientists, technical experts, and the public to exchange ideas, mobilize resources, exercise social responsibility, and cultivate opportunity.
Following three years of sustaining FLOWERS AND TRASH (HOA VÀ RÁC), a free, community-oriented art initiative, Viet Ngo formally incorporated planetBLU Co., Ltd. in August 2026. The venture is anchored by his principal investment alongside equity participation from Vietstar JSC, a major municipal solid waste management enterprise in Ho Chi Minh City. This public-private alignment secures a sustainable foundation for long-term artistic practice centered on industrial discards, ecological urgency, and civic engagement. Currently, Mr. Chinh Ba serves as Art Director and Mr. Thanh Long serves as Production Manager of planetBLU.
planetBLU encompasses a broad artistic spectrum ranging from visual art, performance, and moving image to restorative and landscape practices rooted in art-science cross-pollination. The initiative provokes critical inquiry and public discourse regarding waste management and aquatic microplastic contamination.
Far from a mere production model for art objects, planetBLU functions as a living laboratory (living lab): a site of dynamic friction and interaction between creative practitioners, scientific researchers, and civic actors. Here, empirical data and material remnants extracted from industrial labor and human consumption are transformed into novel artistic discourses.
