This steel structure, named the Shoulders of Giants, is a three-story structure standing 33 meters tall. It expands upon Viet Ngo’s concept of duality by engaging with the ecological dimension of a static sculpture crafted entirely from iron and steel. The artist perceives an element of labor in the way the structural components support one another, rising upward and shouldering the task of shaping the environmental dynamics within the factory space.
The expansion of this work’s duality reflects an ambition to create parallel presences. Viet Ngo seeks to collaborate on building counterpart versions of this structure in other urban locations, where the issue of waste will continue to be a primary concern for both residents and the city alike.
