ANTs is a series of works by Việt Ngô created from industrial scrap materials that have already lived a functional life and bear the marks of labor, time, and transformation.
Standing only 0.5 to 0.7 meters tall yet weighing between 200 and 300 kilograms, each piece embodies a paradox of size and weight. Metal fragments, weld seams, distorted surfaces, and traces of wear are neither concealed nor erased; instead, they become integral to the form and language of the artwork.
The name ANTs evokes the image of ants-tiny yet resilient creatures constantly in motion within a structure far larger than themselves. Through this, the works invite reflection on labor, industry, and the silent lives of materials.
In ANTs, scrap is not the end of a lifecycle but the beginning of a different mode of existence. The material is reborn not by erasing the past, but by allowing those traces to remain present.
From discarded matter, form emerges.
From weight, memory manifests.
From what remains, a new life begins.
