Art Treatment

Published in the Spring 2006 issue of SCAPE magazine, Regina M. Flanagan’s article “Art Treatment” explores the intersection of landscape design, ecological engineering, and commercial enterprise within the practice of artist-engineer Viet Ngo and his firm, Lemna. The author contextualizes Ngo’s extensive environmental contributions in Poland while detailing seminal American projects, including the Devil’s Lake facility in North Dakota and the Cleveland installation in Georgia. For Ngo, these public ecological infrastructure projects represent the most meaningful form of art a practice where aesthetic gesture directly addresses systemic environmental challenges, delivers long-term societal benefits, and establishes the foundation for sustainable international enterprise.
